Happy Monday!

Since the holidays ended, I’ve been enjoying the time with my son, met some really wonderful people at WPPI or just around town for coffee, been planning a huge change to my website, in the mist of  offering a summer photo program, testing out new gear (photo above), doing some personal shoots, and falling in love with film (in a very non-snobby way. Film doesn’t make one superior, but it does make you think). My wedding and portrait season will start up in a couple of weeks and I feel extremely grateful for the perspective the last few months have given me.

If you know me, you know I’m in constant pursuit of learning. Well, a few years ago, I panned the use of formspring. I just saw it as another forum for folks to be all ME ME ME ME. I mean, the address ends in dot me, for crying out loud. But recently I came to see it as a great educational tool. I’ve been learning a lot over there, and decided to use it as a method for my summer students to ask me questions and learn as well. If you’re on formspring and answer photo questions please let me know-  I’d like to make a list of photographers that the students can follow.

I will never profess to be an expert, but if you have a basic photo question, feel free to ask me here.  Just photo questions though, I know I’m on the cusp of the ME generation, but I can’t roll like that

Let me back it up a bit.

When I was in college, there was a very kind man who let me tag along in one of the  summer programs for the in coming drama students. I was supposed to be there for work, but he let me learn along with everyone else. They had a photography component to the program and he put a camera in my hand. I took pictures around the city and he was so impressed by them. For the first time in my life, I felt like I could make things that mattered. I felt valued. I felt creative. I felt alive.

I want to pass it forward.

With that said, I may need some help.

I’m looking to borrow 35mm film camers between 6/25-7/13/12. Cameras will be returned. Ideally, you’re in the northern nj area as I am willing to pick up. Film donations are also welcome, expired film is not a problem. If you can help me encourage even one child, I will be forever grateful to you.
